Sealed unit double-glazing manufactured with Pilkington 'K' glass™ is as
effective as triple glazing.
The double-glazed sealed unit is constructed using specially
coated glass (which visually is almost indistinguishable form normal glass).
This 'K' glass pane has microscopic particles of metal applied which, while it
lets the warmth of sun pass through (short-wave radiation), it reflects heat
from fires and radiators (long-wave radiation) back in to the room. The effect
is that the whole room feels warmer and requires less energy to keep it like
that. This is the heat which normal double-glazing would allow to escape. Even
to touch the glass feels warmer. It is this warmth that helps to reduce the
